Lap Desk
One of the first things I discovered, was I needed the ability to be productive in multiple different seating positions! Sometimes I am working late and sitting at my desk is just no longer an option. This lap desk is perfect for giving you that versatility. I have used it in the car (as a passenger, of course!), my couch, and occasionally even my bed. You never know when that productive juice is going to start flowing! Get yours here: Lap Desk.
Standing Desk for $25 Bucks
So, I can’t sit all day. I can’t do it. I have too much energy!! And working from home, I feel like that’s all I do. There’s no more walking to a coworkers office to say hi (gosh, I miss that). So, I purchased this $25 stand for my laptop and now I can take it into the kitchen and break up the monotony of 10-12 hours in the same spot. Seriously, this is my NUMBER ONE THING i recommend. I love this thing it allows you the flexibility to work! Check it out here.
Desk
A traditional desk is also essential. I was shopping for something feminine with a very large work surface area. I need space. I do not like to feel crowded. Especially when it comes to being productive at home. I have room for my home management (bills, grocery lists), for my personal blog fun work, and for my real life sales leadership position. And all for under $200, YES PLEASE!! Get my desk here!
Desk Chair
Oh, was I picky about my office chair. I need style and function. I’ll be brutally honest here, I didn’t quite get the comfort out of this choice. But, oh my gracious is it SO CUTE. I realized I really prefer desk chairs with arms, so I may upgrade this again in the future. But, it’s too cute not to share and you may not be as picky as me!

Laptop
Don’t skimp on your laptop. Bloggers and creators, you need more than the Air! I chose the MacBook Pro with a good size hard drive to ensure I don’t outgrow it too soon. Love love my MacBook Pro. Here’s the specs I chose. I was wiling to shell out a few more dollars for the big 17-inch screen. I mean, I am 40. Give me bigger, bigger is better when it comes to ensuring I can see what I am working on!!!
Webcam
Ladies, don’t even go skimping on your webcam in 2021. We need to look clear, professional, and have a good angle. Can we please all agree the up the nose views of people on Zoom & WebEx is CANCELLED?!!?!?! I chose this webcam and I am obsessed. I look clear. This furthers my professional view in the eyes of my clients and listen when I say, yes this matters.
Television
I chose to put a nice big television in my office. I spend a LOT of time in this room. I love it in here and I have so many ideas that I am starting to launch to support other women that are working from home. I went with a Samsung because I wanted a smart tv and also the ability to AirPlay my MacBook.
For example, if you haven’t already come join my Facebook Group – Your Sales Cheerleader: Sales Coaching for Women Entrepreneurs. Come on in and pick my brain – 20 years of sales experience at your disposal. I am here to serve you!
Wide-Screen Monitor
Oh this upgrade has increased my productivity at least 3x. I can fit 3 applications on one screen with near full-screen view. In sales, that’s my CRM, email, and OneNote. I am flying through my to-do list now with minimal clicking back and forth. Ladies, if you can make one upgrade to your home office I HIGHLY recommend getting a nice big wide screen monitor!
Ring Light
Ladies, if you don’t have a ring light I beg you to buy one today. The change in how you appear on Zoom & WebEx is upgraded instantly with this $40 purchase. I like this one because I can use it behind my monitor or also as a standing tripod for my fun Instagram reels!
Noise Machine for Home Office
Mommas, am I speaking your language already? There is SO MUCH NOISE in this house! 2 dogs, 5 kids, 1 husband. I needed some help drowning it all out so I can focus on all of my incredible work. This noise machine – has changed my life. I like the wind and bird sounds right now.
And bonus ladies, you are all all of these video calls all day. Be sure your lashes are on point. I am completely and utterly obsessed with Lash Princess. This mascara makes it appear you have falsies on. It’s so plumping and stays put. I bought a 3 pack for less than $15!
What have I missed? Please share below and I will continue to update this guide as I complete my work from home office renovation.
Hey! Did you not like the camera on your Mac? Also LMK when you decide to change chairs 😉
No I love the camera on my Mac – hate the one on my PC (which I use 100% for my real job haha)
Love all of these ideas. Especially the desk. I am looking to do a big overall to my home office and this really lit a fire!
YES!! Lap desk and ring light were the two things I didn’t think about until I needed them STAT. I was doing video visits from home and my lighting was sooo bad. This is such a great list and you’ve seriously covered all of the bases. Great post!
I think these are great for working at home, in general. Thanks for sharing!
Wish there was a remote control I could buy for the kids so I could just pause them whilst working or turn the sound down.
Good tips. Lockdown had me rethink my home office set up. I wish I had thought of getting a standing desk, and a better chair.
Great list! My husband definitely replaced a lot of his home office items in the last year.
This is a great list! You’ve definitely covered all the bases. My webcam isn’t bad, but it doesn’t seem nearly as good as the one that you have linked to. I just got a new office chair, which I absolutely love. Makes such a big difference for sitting hours at a time at my computer.
Thank you so much for taking the time to share this post. Look forward to reading more of your posts.
